When I was in high school I was assigned an array of books to read that I actually never really read. I skimmed them and looked for the key terms in order to find the answers to the chapter review questions but I rarely ever actually read a book I was assigned from cover to cover. I guess I didn’t feel as though I had time since I played two sports, worked, hung out with my friends, and really just didn’t feel like it.
Since I have gotten a little older and am no longer a bratty little high school know it all, I now realize the importance of reading and absorbing information. Information is knowledge and can profoundly influence what direction your life goes in. That is why I have decided to read all the books that I neglected to read in high school. All the books I tossed to the side in exchange for scrolling through their densely worded spark notes pages.
I harbor a more genuine appreciation for literature than I ever have and along with reading some of the greatest stories ever told I want to pay homage to the teachers who worked so diligently to help me grasp the concepts of these age old tales. Yes it is years later but at least their words and effort are not completely going to waste.
I will begin with Hemingway, Coetzee, and Miller and end with Wilde, Lee and only regretting that I had not read these great novels sooner.

What books are you planning on reading this summer?
I hope you all have a lovely day!
There are thousands of products that claim to be the best kept beauty secret. Most of them are for external use only. A scrub that you apply twice a day to remove the dead skin, moisturizer with added sunscreen, and natural oils to give your skin a radiant glow. Few however, are oral supplements that you can take on the daily basis that help improve the texture of your skin, quality of your nails, and strength of your hair like biotin.
Biotin is a vitamin found in small amounts of food. It is used to help prevent biotin deficiency associated with pregnancy, malnutrition, and rapid weight loss. It is also used to treat hair loss and brittle nails along with an array of other things. If you do not suffer from any of these medical problems biotin can still be useful to you.
I have been taking the pills for the past two months everyday and I have seen a drastic improvement in the quality of my nails, skin, and hair. My skin has always been relevantly good but now the texture is much smoother and free of bumps. My nails also appear to be much stronger. They have show vast improvement length wise and have not broken off when in the past they would have at this length. My hair has probably shown the most productivity. It has always been dry and with my starter locs it had become even dryer but I noticed an almost unbelievable increase in the length and texture. It is much smoother yet stronger and has grown an inch or so in just a month.
I encourage anyone who is interested in improving the strength, appearance, and health of there hair, nails, and skin to try Biotin pills. It is a natural supplement and can be found at any drug store. Please speak to your doctor for advice in regards to the appropriate dosage you should take and just sit back and wait for your great results to arrive. I do not think you will be disappointed.
What are some of other great, natural vitamins and supplements that you guys are taking?
I hope you all have a lovely day,
Everyone has their jewelry that they wear on the daily basis. Whether it be a watch or a their high school graduation ring, we all have pieces of jewelry that we wear everyday that become our statement pieces. Well, I wanted to share the rings that I wear everyday with you guys.
I have featured them on my blog before when I first purchased them and I am proud to say that I still have them after all this time. I have lost several of my favorite rings over the past few years because of my carelessness but I am glad that none of these were one of them.
My everyday rings are all rings that I have purchased from Etsy. It is my favorite site for buying accessories because most of the products are all handmade with care. The are all easy to slide on and a simple pattern. They go with everything and all though the original color has faded they are still a great accessory that goes with any often. I get compliments on them all the time.
Do you guys have any pieces of jewelry that you wear everyday?
I hope you guys have a lovely day,
Sorry I have been so MYI recently! I have been working on a project but I promise that I am back and will be blogging daily just as I previously have!
Today I wanted to talk about a product that I have used quite often throughout the past year that is effective yet controversial and that is the Derma Roller.
I really can’t remember where I first found out about the product but more than likely it was at some point when I was looking up random things on the internet and I became instantly intrigued the anti aging tool.
The Derma Roller is a sleek, hand held roller that contains tons of tiny sharp needles. You grip the handle of the device and roll it against your skin while applying pressure. The tons of tiny, sharp needles are intended to penetrate the first layer of your skin and heal any scars or aging signs that have appeared over time, similar to how a razor rejuvenates your skin after you shaved.
I purchased my Derma Roller on Amazon about a year ago and have been using it on my face to help lightening the appearance of some of the facial scars that I have. While the scars still remain present I have noticed a slight positive change in the texture of my skin. Parts appear tighter and softer but not by very much.
One of the main reasons why I purchased the tool was because it was written that Angelina Jolie used the product and it has been used by top dermatologists at their practices as well. However, it does hurt and I have even seen Youtube videos where many of the people who have tried it are bleeding because of how sharp the needles are.
I am a wuss by nature and only lightly press down when using it but for more effective results it is recommended that you use some sort of topical creme along with applying added pressure to which ever area you seek improve to.
Definitely a non-conventional way to reverse the aging process but many people have been satisfied with their results. What do you guys think about the Derma Roller?
I hope you all have a lovely day,
Happy Throwback, Thursday!
I am sure that each of your Instagram feeds will be littered with pictures from your friends 3rd birthdays or their first Easters but for this joyous Thursday I wanted to blog about an artist who is very near and dear to my heart and that is Robin Thicke.
I first heard the heavenly melody of Robin Thicke’s song “Lost Without U” probably 7 years ago on the radio and I was instantly obsessed with that song. I thought that is was the perfect beat, tempo, and melody, and it evoked sexuality and lust. It was like love at first lyric. At this time, because I had only heard the sound of his voice I assumed that Robin was black. Not sure why exactly….perhaps because of the sensuality but for whatever reason I thought he was black and so did my mother.
My family and I enjoyed the song so much that we decided to buy the whole album from a record store (when those still existed) and after looking around for a bit we found the CD and were blown away to find that he was a super hot white man. Not that color plays a role in the music that I listen to but we were shocked and happy to find out that a white boy had so much soul. We bought the CD and Robin Thicke has held a sensual place in my heart ever sense.
He has recently been in the media after word that he and his beautiful wife and lover for over 20 years will be getting divorced. It broke my heart to hear this news and I genuinely hope that they figure out their differences.
In conclusion I would like to dedicate this beautiful Throwback Thursday to Robin Thicke. You may be Lost Without your love but I am so glad I found you!
Do you guys like Robin Thicke? Let me know in the comments below!
I hope you all have a lovely day!
Some of you may be asking yourselves “why is she blogging about Christmas colored nick nacks in April?” and the answer to that question is I don’t know!
I love Christmas! With a sincere passion, as I am sure that many of you do. I genuinely feel happier and more upbeat come Christmas time than I do during any other time of the year. People are constantly singing, abc family has some of the greatest Christmas movies on, the music is fantastic, and oh yea you get presents! You get to get and give presents! What could be better than that?
I came across all the items featured above in my house and I thought “well why don’t I photograph them because they look so good together!” The bottle is some sort of decoration and has a cool metal handle/flip kind of thing that seals the top. I believe the tin box was originally filled with cookies from last Christmas and now makes the cutest little decoration. Last but not least are my sisters clear, heart-shaped sunglasses. Not sure what the point of heart-shaped clear sunglasses is but they are adorable and look good on everyone.
Just photographing a bunch of Christmas colored items made me significantly happier even though Christmas is 9 months away. Part of me wishes that people were always as happy as they are around Christmas time, but I guess part of the joy of the holiday is that it only comes once a year.
I encourage everyone to feel as happy as they do during Christmas time, everyday. Maybe looking through some of your holiday decorations will inspire you to feel those holiday feelings you get in December. Just because it is months away doesn’t mean you can’t feel the spirit all year round!
I hope you all have a lovely day!
I wanted to do a segment in which I showcase a piece of my past every once in a while on my blog! For my first feature I wanted to show some of the soccer pins that I received when I was just a little tike and played for the American Youth Soccer Organization.
I played soccer from the time I was 7 till the time that I was 18 and I always really enjoyed it. I signed up originally because everyone and their mother played soccer around me and I continued playing because I developed a sincere love for the game. I met some of my best friends in the world on the soccer field and I am so glad thankful for all the experiences that I had throughout my time as a soccer player.
As I got older and practiced more I got a lot better and made the All Star Team every season that I played. All Star’s was made up of two or three of the best soccer players from each team in your age group. We traveled all around SoCal often playing three games a day. We stayed in hotels, went out to dinner together, and sometimes even won these tournaments. No matter if you won the entire tournament or came in last place, every girl went home with a shiny metal pin baring them emblem of the tournament. We all would pin them on our custom made soccer backpacks with our names stitched on the backs, as almost a nonverbal way to communicate to all the other girls at the tournaments that we had paid our dues and were experienced players and also because they looked cool.
My time as a soccer player has come and gone but I kept all my pins as a way to remind me of all the places that I went, friends that I made, and how hard I worked just as a little kid.
Do you guys still have any pieces from your childhood that you can not part with? I would love to know if so!
I hope you guys are having a lovely weekend!
