March Favorites

March favorites photo
Hey, everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend!

Since March is coming to an end and tomorrow will be the first day of April (crazy how fast time flies) I decided that today would be the best day for me to share my March favorites with you. I will continue doing a list of my favorite beauty products, songs, clothing, books and so on every month, so make sure you come back at the end of each month to check out that post!

The Body Shop Vanilla Body Mist
I purchased the Vanilla Body Mist a little while ago from the Body Shop because I am a fan of simple scents and I usually where a body mist along with a perfume everyday. For anyone who was an all over scent that is not too strong but still alluring this is the scent for you. It lasts all day and is not too heavy. It’s also perfect for a day at the beach!

Diorshow Black Out Mascara
This mascara should actually be featured on my life favorites more than my monthly favorites because I have been using it constantly for years. I got this tube of Diorshow Black Out Mascara using a gift card I got for Christmas. One tube is $26 dollars which is an absurd amount of money for a mascara but Diorshow is actually worth it. It is pitch black and the wand drastically elongated the appearance of your eyelashes along with adding volume with every stroke. I am hooked on this mascara and am yet to encounter a brand that I like more.

The Secret
The Secret came out in 2006 and was the biggest thing in the world at the time. Everyone was obsessed but I only recently watched it and now realize why everyone was hooked. The Secret is about the Law of Attraction and how positive thoughts and feelings can transform our lives for the better. It features an array of life coaches, financial analysts, and scientists who paint a simple picture of how our thoughts and feelings create the story of our lives. For anyone who is in the process of transforming their life I think this would be a good feature to watch.

blink by Malcolm Gladwell
I have read blink about one and a half times and refer back to it often throughout my life. It is a book by Malcolm Gladwell that illustrates how the difference between good decision making and bad decision making has less to do with how much information we have about a topic, and more to do with our ability to focus on a few particular details. Gladwell explains using real life examples from everyday people, how we can all become better decision makers.

Nirvana Live at Reading
I received this DVD from a friend of my mothers probably a year or two ago but I had never watched it for some reason although I have always been a big fan of Nirvana and Kurt Cobain. New photographs and information from Kurt Cobain’s death have been released to the public this month and after reading a few articles and seeing the graphic images I was reminded that I had this DVD and wanted to watch it as a way to keep my pristine and grudgy image of Kurt Cobain alive. The performance took place at the Reading Festival in England in 1992 and the band played their greatest songs including Breed, School, About a Girl, and Lithium. The DVD is available online and if anyone is a fan of Nirvana I recommend you buy it. You will not be disappointed.

What have you guys been listening to, using, and watching this month? Do you have any favorites?

I hope you enjoyed my post!

Happy Monday!

DIY Personalized Notebook

DSC_0265
Hey, everyone! Above is a picture of a super simple DIY notebook that I am going to show you how to craft!
DSC_0213
All you need to make this notebook is a plain notebook, some stationary, scissors, a ruler, a pencil, some glue, and I found some string that I also used but you don’t need it if you don’t want to use it.
DSC_0218
After you have gathered all the materials that you will be using, you can begin making your new notebook by using the ruler to measure the width and length of the cover of the notebook. Once that has been determined simply use the scissors to cut the stationary so that it completely covers the front cover of the notebook. DSC_0232

Once that has been completed apply the glue to the back of the stationary and press and hold the stationary down to the notebook until it is fully attached.
DSC_0240DSC_0239 Once that has been completed repeat the steps mentioned above for the back. After you have done all of this you are finished with your new Personalized notebook!
DSC_0244 Feel free to add your own special touches like string, flowers or whatever you please to the notebook as well. It can be used to write your memories down in or even given as a gift!

I hope you all enjoyed that super simple tutorial! Do you guys know of any cool DIY projects? If so, I would love to hear them!

Have a lovely Sunday,

California Dreamin’ Postcard Wall Decor

DSC_0126 DSC_0137 DSC_0148 DSC_0150 The last time that I traveled I went through LAX airport and I came across these amazing post cards while I was waiting for my flight to board. Each has a different graphic depicting some of the vibrant imagery of Los Angeles and after I had given a few of them to my friends I thought that they could also serve as awesome wall decorations.

Decorating your wall with post cards is a super simple way to add some pizzaz to any room. Whether they are framed or simply added to your wall using double sided tape, they add a cool element  and ca depict the places that you have visited or a friend of yours as been.

Do you guys know of any  super simple home decor ideas?

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Totally Rad Pandora Station’s

DSC_0096
DSC_0108
Music is a fundamental part of my life. I am constantly listening to music whether it’s the newest radio chart toppers or some rockin’ oldies. If I am not listening to songs on my iTunes account I am checking out new stations on Pandora. Pandora allows its listeners to create their own radio stations based on an artist or even a specific song. They tailor that station to match the style and sound of the whatever song you choose. It is perfect for anyone who wants to create a playlist based on their new favorite song but can’t decide which songs to add because Pandora does it for you. Below is a list that I have compiled of some of my favorite Pandora Radio Stations that I believe are totally rad! Enjoy!

Lana Del Rey Radio

With her smooth and sensual voice Lana Del Rey has been captivating our ears and the radio waves for sometime now. She has an old school vibe and new age artistic outlook that definitely makes her a musician to watch and the same can be said about her Pandora Radio Station. With artists like Lorde and Rihanna, and songs like Sail by AWOLNATION making appearances this is a Pandora Station perfect for any casual kickback with your friends or just a cool background beat for a seaside car ride. Couldn’t recommend it enough.

Of Monsters & Men Radio

I was introduced to this Station by a friend of mine and my, my, my am I so glad that I was. Florence + The Machine, Mumford & Sons, The XX, the Lumineers, Imagine Dragons need I say more? The 5 member Indie Folk band from Iceland tambourined themselves into every Indie girls dreams and their song “Who Are You” was even featured on the Catching Fire Soundtrack. This station is a must hear (a term I just created based off of must read) and destined to become one of your new, favorite Pandora  Radio Stations.

M83 Radio

I first fell in love with M83 after hearing “Midnight City” at Coachella 2012. The crowd went wild. It was an almost unspeakable experience that I shared with everyone there that night. Electric, authentic, energy is the the only description I feel does that performance justice and that is exactly how I would describe their Pandora Radio Station. With bands like Phoenix, Neon Indian, and Passion Pit making numerous appearances all the songs sound like a mixture between the hottest, 80’s video game audios and a cool vibin’ California teen chiefin’ dream, it makes for the perfect pool party playlist.

Summer Hits of the 90’s Radio

Any child of the 90’s, or just someone with immense respect for all things 90’s will love this Station. Bands like the Goo Goo Dolls, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Incubus are all featured and with the appearance of each new song you almost instantaneously travel back to the first time you heard What It’s Like by Everlast in a cluttered garage with your friends or in the back sit of a car with your older sister and her grudging boyfriend. It’s the perfect playlist for a long car ride to work where you just want to rock out and sing every word to your one time favorite songs.

Chingy Radio

It’s like the Bar Mitzvah playlist of my dreams. This station is littered with our favorite Rap and R&B artists of yesterday year including Nelly, Bash Bash, and Frankie J. Long gone on the radio but forever instilled in our hearts in the form of booty shakin’ base jamz. The songs lack the new age, techno/galactic space voyager emphasis that is so wildly popular today and feature a more hip hop motivated rhythmic style. Definite must hear and sure to get any party started.

That’s my list of some of my favorite, totally rad Pandora Radio Stations. I am of course always open to suggestions for new music and would love to hear what Pandora Stations you guys listen to!

I hope you have a lovely day,

Krystal

Showcase a Great: Danielle Roz

This weekend one of my best friends from high school came home for spring break and invited me and a few of our friends to go see her sister Danielle’s, stand up comedy performance in Hollywood at a show called, Whore’s on Sunday.

I had no idea what to expect seeing that I had previously only gone to one comedy show in the past, which took place in a stadium. This performance however, was in an intimate room of around 40 people at the world famous Comedy Store on Sunset Boulevard where many of the biggest names in comedy including David Letterman, Roseanne Barr, Chris Farley, and Louis C.K. have previously graced the stage.

I had seen Danielle’s routines on YouTube but nothing compared to her live performance. She is a natural on stage as she jokes about her lack of interest in buying make up to attract men, her previous stint in rehab, and her concealed hatred for an elementary school classmate named, Stacy. Her jokes are organic, witty, and stories that any twenty something can easily relate to. Not only that, but her parents accompanied us to her performance and could not have been more proud of her raw and raunchy set. She even jokingly (of course) mentioned her dad throughout her time on stage saying, “Hope I’m making you proud, dad!”

I am so glad that I got the opportunity to see Danielle along with an array of other amazing comedians perform. They do something that I don’t think I would ever be able to do and it is truly an art form. Being able to stand up in front of a crowd of random people and make them laugh by using merely your words and mannerisms requires an immense amount of courage and I am so happy to have been one of the few to see Danielle Roz do so before she makes it big!

Please check out Danielle’s Youtube and Tumblr accounts if you know what’s good for you.

I also want to hear if you guys know of any comedians that I should check out. If so please let me know in the comments below!

I hope you all have a lovely day,

Krystal

5 Things I Am Grateful For This Week!

New flower

I have been doing a lot of soul searching recently and I believe that it has actually paid off. Not to say that it hasn’t paid off in the past, but for some reason (and this could be in part because of my blog) I just feel very different about life than I previously have and I am more excited for the future than ever! In light of this new found confidence and self realization I decided I wanted to share a little ritual that I do to help me look on the brighter side of things, and always stay positive. I do this by writing down a list of things that I am grateful for. This list is appropriately called, a gratitude journal.

I have been keeping a gratitude journal for sometime now (yes, I have a lot of journals) and on the days that I remember to write in it (which recently has been more often than not) I write down five things that I am grateful for before I go to bed. These things range from me saying that I am grateful to have had the opportunity to eat that delicious taco my sister bought me, to me saying that I am grateful to have two properly functioning legs. Pretty much I am grateful for anything from simple, everyday pleasures to just being able to walk, and everything around and in-between.

I think doing this has really changed my outlook on a lot of things because I have kind of tricked myself into focusing on all the things that I am fortunate enough to have opposed to focusing on all the things that I wish I had, but don’t. So below I have compiled a list of 5 things I am grateful for from all the ones I have written down this week, that I would like to share with you!

To have seen my best friend from high school and her family. Being that many of my friends from high school are in school, I don’t get the chance to see them every often, but my best friend Katie was on Spring Break and came back to LA and I could not have been more happy to see her and her family.

To have had the chance to go to TWO Los Angeles Kings games in one week. Katie and her family invited me to go to two kings games with them and of course I said yes. Although I don’t understand hockey and half the time I couldn’t see the puck we had a lovely dinner at the Staple Center and the energy of the crowd was absolutely electrifying. GO KINGS!

To have eaten my first Pupusa!  I had never heard of or seen a Pupusa before but my sister bought me one the other day and owe my word it was delicious. It is a  traditional Salvadoran dish made of a thick, handmade corn tortilla and it is absolutely delicious.

To have spent Saturday afternoon with my mother and sisters. Everyone in my family is always running around all over town so it is rare that we get to spend quality time together. But yesterday my mother, my sisters, and I all happened to be home at the same time and we ordered a pizza and just hung out really. It was lovely!

That I do not play organized sports anymore. OMG! I am so grateful for this. When I was younger I use to have three soccer games in one day and sometimes drive hours and hours, hopping from field to field to play in these games. I witnessed my sister do this yesterday morning and I can adamantly say that I am so grateful that, that part of my life is over. However, if you do play organized sports, more power to you! I just don’t think I have the stamina or upper body strength for that anymore.

That’s my list. Now I want to hear what you guys are grateful for and let me know if you liked this post because I was thinking about make it a series that I do every Sunday!

Hope you have a lovely day,

Krystal

The Lovely Lulu

DSC_0001 DSC_0002 DSC_0004 DSC_0009
In honor of National Puppy Day I thought that I would showcase one of my amazing puppies, Lulu!

You may not know her and sometimes its hard to find her but she is the cutest, sweetest, little nugget in the game and lucky enough to be one of my dogs. Meet, Honolulu (Lulu for short)! She comes in weighing a staggering 3 pounds, although she thinks she is the size of a bear, and she has the bark and bite time match.

She is a professional beggar and the moment she see’s anyone with the smallest amount of food in their hand she lowers her ears and bats her beautiful, puppy dog eyes to get their attention. Trying to deny her of my dinner has become an everyday struggle.

She’s got to be one of the cutest dogs in the world and I’m so glad to call her my pup! Here’s to Lulu!

If you guys have dogs I would love to see/hear about them!
